Our clinical director is one of just two acupuncturists in Maine to be a Fellow of the Acupuncture and TCM Board of Reproductive Medicine (ABORM), and our entire team has advanced training and experience in supporting fertility. We use acupuncture, herbal medicine and LED light therapy to help you address fertility struggles, but we also do so much more than that.

Treatment plans typically include regular acupuncture, herbal medicine, LED light therapy, nutritional guidance, and stress reduction techniques. Please expect treatment with acupuncture for fertility to be a 3-6 month process at minimum. Those looking for IVF support also benefit from regular acupuncture for at least 3 months before beginning an IVF cycle, as we try to address underlying imbalances before a cycle starts.

ACUPUNCTURE FOR PCOS

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) can develop for a broad range of reasons.  At Six Branches Family Acupuncture, we help you get to the root of the problem.  We’ve worked with many people with PCOS.  In addition to addressing ovulation, we can also address symptoms such as acne and hair loss that are common with PCOS.

ACUPUNCTURE FOR UNEXPLAINED INFERTILITY

Sometimes there is no western medical reason that has been found to explain why someone isn’t getting pregnant.  In many of these cases, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) may have some answers.  We also help you to figure out which further investigation and testing might make sense to explain the ‘unexplained’ and identify possible appropriate interventions.

ACUPUNCTURE FOR MALE INFERTILITY

Male factor infertility is an issue in 1/3 to 1/2 of all infertility cases.  Herbal medicine and lifestyle changes can help improve low sperm volume and poor sperm motility and morphology.  Even if you are going through an IVF cycle with ICSI (intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection) you want the sperm to be the best quality it can be and limit sperm DNA fragmentation.  Herbal medicine and acupuncture can make real changes to the sperm quality that can dramatically change fertility outcomes.

Please note: Most insurance plans cover acupuncture for pain conditions only, and some are restricted to particular types of pain. Most do not cover for internal conditions like infertility.
